Sunbathing’s surprisingly second on the list of priorities for men on holiday
Getting a tan on holiday is a higher priority for men than it is for women, according to a new study.
The poll of 2,000 adults commissioned by holidaygems.co.uk found that getting a tan is second on the list of priorities for men, but third for women.
The findings suggest that modern men want a bronzed look like footballer Cristiano Ronaldo or reality TV star Joey Essex.
Getting a tan is one of the less active male priorities on holidays abroad as men also enjoy spending their holiday money on theme park visits, hiking, cave exploration, jet skiing and watching football according to the men’s top 10. Women, however, would rather read a book, sample the best food and drink in restaurants and food markets, go to the theatre, go horse riding, enjoy a dip in the pool or visit a health spa.
The fact that sunbathing was such a high priority for men comes as something of a surprise to holidaygems.co.uk managing director Jason Edwards as he says it hadn’t been so important for men to get a tan in the past.
Otherwise the top 10’s are as expected as men are keener to be active than women while on holiday, Mr Edwards said.
The research also reveals that most couples have been on six holidays together and one in four of them struggle to find a destination both partners are happy with.
